84th Entry
Chris said in an email dated Wed 08/07/2009 09:23:
Dear All 84th and guests
The 84th Entry of Apprentices, RAF Locking, Reunion Dinner!!
JULY 2009, Sunday 26 and Monday 27, at The Three Ways House Mickleton, Chipping Campton Gloucester GL55 6SB.
We will, I'm sure, have a wonderful and emotional time together.
As at Stamford, the event will develop a soul of its own. From which we shall all have memories to savour for future times!
A leisurely meeting of like minds, feelings, tastes and life experiences....to share, in the short time available.
May I suggest the following simple reminders:
The 14th C High Street of the wool merchants town of Chipping Campden is worth a visit for Antique shops, cafes and hotels.
Take in Weston-Sub-Edge. The site of the first English Olympiad on Dovers Hill; a pleasant stroll, and view over The Vale of Evesham on your way to Broadway with its world-class Art Galleries and Hotels, pubs and cafes. Don't miss the Lygon Arms for lunch, before you take the short run up to Snowshill. A lovely hill village with central church and pub and its famous Manor. (NT, Samurai Armour, gardens and much else). There may still be some May in bloom. Modern belief say that's where the name comes from, but history says the hill was always the first to catch the winter snow.
On the Tuesday your return trip, perhaps, you may want to consider Moreton, Stow, Bibury (for trout fishing licences and lunch, The Swan Hotel), Cirencester good wool church, Cotswold Water Park, for last minute sailing, water sports and beavers (The George for lunch on the bridge at South Cerney), Kemble/Ewen village, the Wild Duck, Tetbury , or even Cheltenham for lunch at the top of the Promenade in Montpellier and its boutiques, for that important gift for the guest, to say thanks for coming with me to Mickleton!!!
Thanks to all for your efforts made in getting to Mickleton.
On behalf of the steering group.
Chris.
